Burgundowie na ziemiach polskich
: 10 lis 2010, 20:45
Przedstawię tutaj trochę informacji ze źródeł i opracowań dotyczących Burgundów.
Co pisze o tym ludzie Ptolemeusz:
"the Suevi Semnones, whose boundaries beyond the Albis extend from the area we mentioned towards the east up to the Suevus river, and the Burguntae, who inhabit from there to the Vistula."
"and below the Burguntae the Lugi Omani, "
"Burgundians were already known to Tacitus and Ptolemy in the first and second centuries. [...] They were one-time members of the Vandalic world, living somewhere between the Oder and the Vistula"
Peter Heather, Empires and barbarians.
Podobnego zdania jest prestiżowa Britannica: "The Burgundians were a Scandinavian people whose original homeland lay on the southern shores of the Baltic Sea, where the island of Bornholm (Burgundarholm in the Middle Ages) still bears their name. About the 1st century ad they moved into the lower valley of the Vistula
River, but, unable to defend themselves there against the Gepidae, they migrated westward to the borders of the Roman Empire."
Zapraszam do dyskusji.
